Program of Studies - Grade 6
The sixth grade art course is a twelve week course. Throughout these twelve weeks, I will lead students to explore a variety of media as they continue to build their skills in drawing, painting, graphic design, calligraphy, and sculpture.
Theory is introduced throughout the course to further elaborate upon ideas about color, perspective, and design. I lead discussions about artists, art work, and provide technique demonstrations to develop art appreciation, art history, art production, art criticism, and work toward the development of problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Students are encouraged to work creatively and to recognize that the processes and procedures used to create art are just as important as achieving the final product.
